Black rice is a special cultivar of rice which is widely consumed as a health-promoting food in different countries for thousands of years. The first commercial production of black rice in Nepal started at Bhakunde Besi of Kavre in 2013/14.
Black rice is generally dwarf variety. It has high tillering capacity than normal rice. The most peculiar character with black rice is the extra early maturity period.
